In March 2020, the Scottish Government asked NHS Scotland to roll out Microsoft Teams to all staff. This was to enable remote working, collaboration and communication as the national lockdown loomed.
They already had a plan to switch on Teams in the autumn of that year. Because of COVID, they had to migrate 160,000 users in one weekend.
We came on board to help staff get to grips with the change, and embed the new tools into every day ways of working.
"Hable’s training sessions enabled people to explore technology in a safe place."
We starting by creating a set of training resources to help upskill staff; resources that went on to be used within health settings all across Scotland. We also worked with them to nurture their existing Digital Champions network, and create a levelled up network of ‘Super Champions’ too. Everyone really begun to see the benefit of having Microsoft 365 experts in house.
On a broader scale, the implementation of this technology had a positive impact across the whole country. It made decision making and admin much easier. Collaboration much more seamless, and has enabled colleagues in more remote parts of Scotland (such as Shetland) to feel more included.
The statistics following this project are quite remarkable. Between June and December of 2020 there were over 2 million Teams calls made across NHS Scotland. Over 4 million meetings. And over 18 million private chat messages.
For an organisation that wasn’t using it at all at the start of the year – that is truly incredible to see.
We have loved working with NHS Scotland and are proud to help helped the way they work during this difficult time.
