National Institute of Teaching (NIoT)

The National Institute of Teaching is a brand new organisation. Set up by four leading academy school trusts, it is their mission to enhance the quality of teaching and school leadership through research, insights, and professional development programmes.

As an organisation starting from scratch, they didn’t necessarily have the correct technology in place to do the work that would achieve this mission.

That’s where Hable came in.

What Hable did:

We started with the creation of their Microsoft 365 tenancy. Setting up business critical tools like Teams and SharePoint, to ensure foundations were in place for seamless communications and collaboration.

Following the technical work and builds, we offered advice to ensure the best possible use of the new tools. From the art of file management, right through to accessing Teams and how best to communicate via the platform.

It was important to the NIoT that they were able to give their learners a meaningful learning experience whilst ensuring the content was engaging for all.

So the Hable learning team created a bank of bespoke videos and reference guides that could be accessed by new staff and course facilitators, as well as learners. To ensure they could learn about new ways of working effectively in Teams. Enhancing the delivery of courses and improving the learning experience for their learners.

We used language they were familiar with and showed step-by-step instructions in their actual Microsoft 365 environment. And all of this was done with accessibility in mind. Ensuring the content was easily consumable for all.

The benefits for the NIoT:

While the NIoT now have a bank of learning resources to improve digital knowledge and confidence, the real benefits seen have been in the onboarding process.

Not only does that improve understanding of NIoT systems straight away. It also gives everyone the same experience.
